Default Glitched Pink Dye?

Was talking with Nick (Who the hell is Nick? He's a friend) on vent the other day, and he said he did a FoW run with this Monk who had extraordinary armor.

Apparently, this Monk dyed his FoW armor Pink, but it glitched on his Chest and Legs, and instead turned into a baby-greenish color (Maybe the revert). Nick already tried douzens of combinations from the known dye charts to match this color (And thus unmask this Monk as a liar), but to his and mine surprise, we haven't had any succes, thus making it a real possiblity.

Here's a picture of the Monk (He obviously took a screenshot) -I blanked out names-

So, are we just really bad at Guild Wars, or is this guy for real, and posseses possibly the only "glitch pink" dyed FoW?

Are you sure it's not just FoW from before the dye overhaul?

That's what I suggested, but I haven't found anything on Wiki, nor any color that resembles this extreme bright baby-teal.

I see no reason why the Monk would lie about his Pink Dye story, and it's always a possibility...

it seems the people using this colour are being quiet about it. 2 people have recently posted pictures of monk fow armor with this colour in the screenshot section (i believe one if that monk you have posted), neither saying the combo.
i believe this colour was available before the dye update, but at least one of the people in the screenshot section are claiming its a recent dye job.
so *shrug*

A long time ago you could buy FoW sets in all the various non-insgnia stats, and the energy / Ascetics armor for monks dyed backwards for some bizarre reason. The other sets dyed normally / as they dye now.

I'm guessing there's not *that* many of those sets knocking around these days due to older players not playing anymore? Which is why there's not any dye charts for the armor set. (Not to mention a whole energy set of armor was seen as bad practice, so even less people had this set)

My guess is that this monk has one of these Ascetic sets of FoW. You can re-insignia them and everything, but the dye still works backwards on 'em. I've seen a few monks with this colour armor. I'm 99% sure this is how they make this colour.

This is the answer. I have a friend with that color. He used pink dye on the 'old' FoW monk armor (energy set), which dyes invertly.

i completely agree on that theory, as a friend has the old armour and mentioned something about dye "issues", but like you said most of them don't play any more, and neither does he. i'll hassle him for some screenie of different dyes to attempt to prove the theory.

Would I be fair in assuming that this is something they should reimplement? (Mainly because certain people have access to it, and it just looks so awesome..)

They haven't implemented shades that were possible before, like those using dye remover, mixed dyes, or dye combinations made possible with default armor color interaction. Graphic glitches in general have historically been low on their priority list. Don't hold your breath.

On the contrary, the Ascetic's set was the easiest one to obtain due to the lower cost and easier materials. Also when this armor set was available, there were no +health sets available to monks and the best armor set was +10AL vs Elemental. Ascetics was the set to get.

It's just that dye inverted obsidian armor was available for such a short period of time.

Consider it a "prestige" thing, like 1st year hats, old ghostforge insignias, +25% charrslaying mods, etc etc etc. It was a bug that got fixed but the old bugged items remained in the game.

I was confused for a sec.

They fixed the inverted monk FoW colors thing? I thought all monk FoW still dyed inverted to everything else.

Saw a very similar looking monk with obby but no chaos gloves. Asked if it was old school dye and was told it was. This was about a month ago. Have to say it is not glitched.

Maybe he/she was running texmod when he/she took the screenie.

EDIT: Didn't read the old fow armor comments. That is very cool though.

Yeah, I've heard a few people around talk about how they dyed their old monk FoW armor pink and it came out that minty-blue/green color. Pretty cool, wish we still had dye remover and mixed dyes though :/

I'd vote the same. Some things should remain special (even a little bug like this) and feel rewarding for those few who stumbled upon it. It's not game breaking in the end.

Around that time minors replacing superiors was just coming into style, if I recall correctly.

+energy armor was the norm and considered good practice.

Talked to this guy, he has FoW from before the reviewed dye-chart. His armor dyes slightly differently then other FoW armor, i.e. his turns real white when dyed white etc.
